Promoting Your 7DTD Server
Last updated: November 22, 2021
When I first purchased a 7 Days To Die server (check out my guide here to get your own), not many of my friends than actually played the game.
So I wanted to promote my private server so I could get more like-minded people playing.
Through trial and error and a lot of research into different ways to promote your server, I managed to grow my server quite quickly.
These were the methods I used to do so:
Join Groups on Social Media
I found that looking for and joining 7DTD groups on social media was a brilliant way to promote the server.
First, you will need to look for the dedicated group that allows you to advertise your server.
Then create a post that catches the eye of the players and draws them into wanting to use your server over anybody else’s. If you make it unique it will stand out and get more traction giving you more players.
Finding 7DTD Groups
7DTD groups can be easy enough to find on Facebook and Steam.
If you type in “looking for 7DTD players” or “7DTD servers” it should give you a good base to start from.
In my opinion, Steam has always been the best place to advertise your server as the community is very active.
Facebook and Twitter can be more limited but is definitely worth a try as it has a large overall user base.
I have included two links here to show examples:
Unlike Facebook and other groups on social media platforms, Google Ads does require some funding to promote your server, however, it is a fantastic tool to do so being the most used search engine on the internet. Using Google AdWords is more aimed at server owners who have already amassed a large community and want to then try and monetize their server.
I have previously gained access to free credit from google Adwords when I signed up to use the service. I would suggest if you do try signing up to do it early as it could take a couple of weeks or months to receive a promotional code, so obviously the sooner you sign up the more chance you have of receiving any free credit. The last time I received a $65 credit. Which is well worth signing up for.
7DTD Server Lists
7DTD lists are a fantastic way to find other players outside of your current friends that play the game and source/recruit new players. There are two options when using a 7DTD Server List: you Could create a free listing that will be supplied to the site as normal or create a premium listing that will be promoted to the top of the website.
Free listings, of course, are a good way of drawing in new players but you must remember by using the free service you will be having to compete with thousands of other servers that are all free listings as well. To try and combat this I would suggest making yours really eye-catching to get an instant click. Bright coloring and unique graphics will ensure that yours will stand out compared to others.
Premium listings usually charge by the day or month and vary in cost depending on how many users visit the listings website. Using this method will ensure you will have a lot of new players as your listing will be seen first.
